I still haven’t made my New Year’s resolutions
and it’s a couple of weeks since the first.
What will I resolve this year? I’m determined
to avoid the “eat better,” “exercise more,”
“be a better person.” I need to look at them
as goals and break them into daily efforts.
For example, I will eat better “one day at a time.”
Well, so far, I haven’t done that––maybe today!
I can’t exercise––still having knee trouble, but
I could stretch out my sore back each day
through a couple of yoga positions. Perhaps
the mat will beckon or even welcome my body.
As for being a better person, I think I’ve done that
but as I don’t see anyone beyond my son, it’s
hard to tell. I clean my kitchen every morning,
take my pills and spend time with my kitties.
I think those things count, so I’m working on them
in spite of my self talk. Let’s just start this day.
